The Claude algorithmic-art skill’s SKILL.md tells Claude to use it when you ask for art made with code, generative or algorithmic art, flow fields or particle systems. Claude writes the piece in p5.js with seeded randomness, so the same seed always redraws the same image, and with parameters you can adjust. The skill also tells Claude to make original work rather than copy existing artists.
The work happens in two steps. Claude first writes a short algorithmic philosophy: a named generative movement described in four to six paragraphs and saved as a Markdown file. It then expresses that philosophy in code as one self-contained HTML artifact built from the skill’s viewer template, with p5.js loaded from a CDN, sliders for the parameters, seed controls (previous, next, random and jump to a seed) and regenerate and reset buttons. The artifact opens in claude.ai or any browser without setup.
The skill is part of the example-skills plugin from Anthropic’s skills repository. In the Claude apps, example skills are turned on in Customize > Skills, with Code execution and file creation enabled (Use skills in Claude).
