- Claude apps, Claude API, Claude Code (via plugin)
Its description tells Claude to use it for anything involving a Word document: reports, memos, letters and templates with tables of contents, headings, page numbers or letterheads, plus tracked changes, comments, find-and-replace and swapping images. It is not meant for PDFs, spreadsheets, Google Docs or general coding, which other skills and tools cover.
In the Claude apps it is one of the built-in document skills: with Code execution and file creation on, Claude uses it automatically when you ask for a Word file, with no setup (Use skills in Claude). It is also a pre-built skill in the Claude API (Agent Skills overview). Anthropic publishes its source as a reference: source-available, not open source.
